Remember the song: 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon? Well, I just read an article in a marketing magazine that discussed 51 ways to use web video to help your business grow. I like both discussions, but I think I am more an expert at the latter! So I will share my top favorites. Here are New Vision Videos top 10.

Share on Social Media (Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Myspace, Your Blog)

Create a Video Brochure (Who wants to read? Stop printing them and save a tree)

Customer Testimonials (You can even shoot these with your cellphone!)

Product Demo, Presentations or Reviews (Focus on benefits or unique features)

Corporate Overview (Tired of telling people over and over and over the same speil?)

Virtual Video Tour (This isn't your real estate snapshots stitched together, this is real video!

Training or Expert Video (Great for customer support or training employees in one effort)

Event/Conference Promo (Shoot footage at your event and edit for next years promo video!)

Talk Show (We call it internet tv, but why not create a weekly or monthly program, live?)

Branded Entertainment (Think Fish Daytona! This is a fun way to reach your audiences)

Yes, these are our favorites... well frankly because we do them so often we are really good at creating them! Of course I could share the entire article with you, but who wants to read 50 words more? That's why this article is so short. Video sights and sounds sell better than words everytime.

Stay tuned for a test market of that idea... coming soon!

Are you Wasting Money on Video?

Views & Distribution Challenges

Video is constantly changing a viewers' web experience but are you getting the most out of your media channel? Yes, if you have video on your website or on a portal, you have a web channel! But are you just wasting money?

You know you needed the video produced, but did you distribute it thinking about your overall online presence? Are you reaching the right audience? How do you drive traffic to your video? Is it bringing in new or repeat customers? You know- ROI (return on investment!)

Sure online advertising is still a pretty new technology, that most likely changes week to week, but video advertising, distribution and views must be trackable.

Scenario: You have a counter hidden on your site, or visible on youtube that shows how many viewers, but are they accurate? Did it count for how long it was watched? Does each time your page be clicked on the video is marked as viewed? Is the view counter tabulating repeat viewers? This is called completition rate term and in the tv industry it’s just about reach and frequency of the spot. Think about how you will never know if the regular tv audiences stay seated and watch your commercial! Did they take a snack or potty break, rushing back to the couch when the show bumper replayed? Or did they actually watch, listen and observe your spot?

Distribution is key and can be a sure way to fail at niche marketing if you first don’t attract audiences which can drive sales, which will justify cost of video. Ok so you placed the video all over the internet, but unless someone is searching for whatever keywords you embedded (SEO) into the video link, then no one will find it. Make sure you syndicate and cross promote your video content too. You have to create a marketing campaign that includes distribution not just the video production. And you have to start with clearly defined goals!

What is the video performance goal? Online you can install an auto play option or allowing audiences the option to click to view, or fill out a form prior to watching the video, or must subscribe first. Do you just want to gain viewer numbers only? Are you seeking people to follow thru the call to action page? Are you forward thinking about the viewing experience and is your video mobile friendly or cross platformed?

Don’t waste money on video unless you have a distribution plan and effective viewer result tracking plan.

Our internet team can help! Just sayin'

Top 3 Video Ideas for 2013

Does your 2013 marketing plan have these 3 video elements to it? Any at all?

If you want to accomplish your goals and be more effective you really should look into producing a professional video for your business. If your competitor has video and you don’t, you may be left behind in the dust of the 90's unknowns.

Video gets you noticed and can gain trust from the customer, helping you to get their business.

The best video concepts include:

The Company Introduction: This is the most important video that can build trust and should be handled carefully, as no one gets a second chance to make a first impression. If you’re the CEO, why not engage or educate your potential customers by talking on camera to them. Talk about your business structure, ethics or what you can do for the audience. You can share this type of video on social media sites, emails and even air it at your trade show booth.

The Client Testimonial: Having no video is better than a bad video, but when it comes to testimonial web videos, there is some forgiveness of a raw reality-based look. Persuasion is powerful whether it comes from satisfied or unsatisfied clients, so capture the good reviews on camera and post it online everywhere. Have the customer talk off camera (not directly into lens) about how your product or service solved their problems. Non–verbal communiucation will be found as truth, so make sure they mean it, not a paid spokesperson! And what I mean about a raw look, is you can actually shoot this type of video with your mobile or tablet internal video camera – just make sure you have good audio. Hiring a professional to capture testimonials is a good idea, but not always necessary because you sometimes have to grab them when the customer is chatting you upright now and happy! You’d be silly to wait til your crew shows up. And a pro company can usually edit it if you don’t know how and place it in your other corporate videos.

The How To /Educational: If you repeatedly give your customers free advice or instructions on using your product or service- why not deliver it one time. The demonstration video not only shows and tells, but insures you don't miss a step that can sometimes happen when you speak live in-person. Best of all this type of video will save you time and money giving customer service attention to other details, and the viewer can watch the DVD or web video at their convenience, freeing you up to take care of running your business or making your product bigger and better!

Well that wraps up the 3 most popular videos we’ve been working on during 2012. Not only do they work really well for clients but we are getting calls daily inquiring about video for business marketing. So ask yourself in your planning meeting, "are you in the middle or on the edge?" Some times either one is good, but the coolest thing is you should be videotaping it all! Your website, social media channels and blogs should have at least 1 video. If not, you are missing the best part of your marketing plan.

Happy Marketing!

Kathryn, Creative Director

What the heck is SEO?

Most social media experts will tell you that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is critical. As a video producer, I have to agree since isn’t the goal that your video reaches as many new audiences/viewers as possible? The best way for people to find your video quickly and easily is to add video SEO.

Whether you’re a big organization or a little mom and pop shop, you have to follow a few steps when uploading your web videos to the web. If you use YouTube to host your videos, it’s pretty simple and you can do it yourself. But if you’re hosting it through your own internet provider then you need to contact your webmaster after you read the following.

The Title First of all, choosing a clear title gives you the biggest advantage of getting noticed. Just don’t try to trick potential viewers when naming your video. Example would be click here for a free…private…etc. unless you are actually offering something exactly what you are saying to generate excitement. Make is clear, simple and intriguing.

The Description When describing your video contents make sure you are accurate as possible, and if you are offering a discount or similar, make sure you place a call to action such as your website address.

The Keyword/s This is the most challenging, but can be accomplished by looking at the most popular videos that come up when you search for what you are trying to sell. See what your competitors are using as key words. More in-depth info can be done with an internet search, but some search engines aren’t looking at keywords anymore. So make sure the title and description provide accurate info about the video, do NOT stuff keywords there as it may be overlooked, but create clear and precise keywords that relate to your video topic: seat covers, trucks, center console seat covers, etc.

The Backlink After you’ve uploaded your video, make sure you post the link in as many places as possible. Do you blog? Use social media? Tweet your video link, Digg it, send a Yahoobuzz and Pinterest it if you can. The more places you submit a press release announcing your video link to the world wide web -the more likely it’ll get noticed. But let audience know if it’s a long educational video vs. short ad because you don’t want to waste their time-or upset them, tell them to schedule 5min later when available to watch this must see video...

The View And lastly, send an email to your customers, family and friends asking them to check out your latest video message. Or just add the link in your signature line of daily emails. Generate views from everyone you know, just don't spam them!

These are just a few tips on how to optimize your videos online to allow it to be found by your audience, your customers and hopefully your next million dollar sale!

Good luck, until next time – keep the lens cap off!

Click here to Watch this video and get up to 25% your FIRST WEB VIDEO

Your Producer Friends at New Vision Videos

Connecting the Dots in a Welcome Video!

Random videos online get lost in translation, so connect the dots! Your intial welcome video should be focused on reaching customers, demonstrating results, emitting emotion, showing uniqueness and building teamwork.

Dot 1: Reach. Make sure you reach out far and wide to customers with your brand but don't forget to really get the attention of the viewers you want. Narrowing down to 3 or less points, and making sure you state what you specialize at your company can help you to reach for the stars!

Dot 2: Demonstrate. Show your capabilities, don't just talk about them. It's nice to know who you will work with on a project before you end up spending hours and days together and realize you don't mesh. Build your team into the center of your video presentation. They are afterall who your client will be working with, right?

Connecting the dots can be fun.
5 Excuses Businesses Don't Have a Video!

I think we all can agree that video marketing is the trend that is remaining on top of its game! Just ask the hundreds of thousands of newspaper columnists, online reviewers, book authors, marketing economists and even your kids who spend at least 5 hours a day reading, writing and talking about the power of video. So what is YOUR business waiting for? What is YOUR excuse?

It seems I hear the same points trying to be made each week when I am out seeking new business. Everyone seems to “want” a video, but when it comes down to signing the proposal, there is really a surprising answer. They want it, know they need it, but…they hesitate. My guess is it’s out of fear, so this week I will address this issue. As arguments can always be made about a number of things, I thought I’d touch on the basic 5 excuses presented to me, sometimes daily.

Not enough money.

I can say without a doubt that COST is the major inhibiting factor from the small businesses I pitch. It all comes down to ROI or return of investment. I like to educate clients of the benefits and ROI by justifying the level of work that goes into them getting new clients or at least appealing to new ones. How many lunches, drinks, postcards, gifts and time does it take you to reach AND get attention of at least 1 new customer? Once you find out the real cost of a video production and measure it to the cost of getting a new customer, or running one small business ad in the paper, you will see it’s less cost coming out of your pocket.

Specific videos have certain price tags. It’s like when you go get your car washed, and there is silver, gold, platinum packages to choose from, sometimes you just want the quick fast down and dirty (well you know what I mean) and sometimes you want your car to look it’s best. Same here with video- a bad car wash is like cheaply made video that will end up losing your customer or getting bad attention. Spend the money to get it done right the first time. A lot of work goes into making your company shine and look awesome. Pay accordingly.

And lastly, on the money saving tips- you may wonder why you should pay a producer to create the video when your kid or secretary could do it for a fraction of the cost. Just because you have a video camera and editing system that you paid $99 doesn’t make you a video producer. Just cause’ I have internet medical website, doesn’t make me a doctor. Your customers will pass you by if you aren’t wowing them so leave it to the professionals. If your clientele have to read endless crap on your website you just cost yourself a customer. What is that worth? Video is worth every penny spent. And sometimes it's pennies to produce.

Not much time.

Video can save your company thousands in money and time. Think about time spent training, traveling, recruiting, marketing, etc. If you incorporated a "new employee orientation" into a video campaign, you won’t have to train each individual employee- rather plop them down in the conference or break room with a coffee and DVD player and they get trained while you spend time finding new customers!

As for the creative process, a full service video production company is just that- full service! If you hire a seasoned professional producer, you don’t really have to do anything. Just depends on where you want to cut costs or have the producer take care of every detail, or that new employee you just hired who watched your ABOUT COMPANY video and now understands your concepts! Whoever is the point person is as simple as someone to help guide the process or just someone who can email us your camera ready logo, we will write script too!

Not having trust.

Trust is important. Trust takes time. To trust just any video production company isn’t ideal – we know! We’ve seen companies come and go over our 20 years, and believe that the slow impact model works. We like to educate our clients and demonstrate the benefits of a videos' value. A great video not only showcases how special your company is but understand that producing content that highlights the “heart and soul of who you are” is most important. Plus we believe in what we do and want to help you succeed. So we work with your webmaster, marketing team and create an endless loop of synergy. We share our knowledge of SEO, help you get your video onto a mobile-friendly site, and deliver quantifiable advertising possibilities. Trust is gained.

No wanting change.

The old sayin’ that people don’t like change, not even a bank teller, rings true. But to stay competitive in today’s economy, we all HAVE to change. Video is just part of the marketing equation these days, but creating engaging valuable content and showing the worth of your product and services will build trust with customers helping you connect with possible clients much faster in the future!

Remember, do if yourself might be cheap, but the skills required to use the new tools are not the same. Tools don't make the toolmaster, trust and experience does!

Not wanting to be on camera.

People say they want their 15 seconds of fame, but when it comes down to it folks are fearful they will look stupid on camera! I tell all my client’s that we are not shooting live television, so if you mess up, we do it over until you polish it. And frankly, it’s my job to make you look good, so relax and let's have some fun with it. If I don’t believe you, no one else will, so I will do what it takes to help you standout amongst your competitor- in a positive light!

In todays’ fast pace, quick decision making world wide web, you NEED to be on camera. Heck- even I did! (Check out my video below.) Before we shoot, I give you tips to help you relax, breathe and ask you to allow me to direct you so you can focus on your sales pitch. But really it all comes down to message and content. You don’t have to go on camera, and maybe shouldn’t. If we decide during the creative process that you won’t be introducing yourself to potential customers on camera, then we will have Plan B. Let us be the professional creative directors, sometimes a voiceover really is the answer. Or better yet, testimonials from your customers along with a spokesperson.

No matter what your excuses is or isn’t, you need to dominate your market- and can start doing that with a compelling, time and money saving entertaining video that builds trust with your customers.

Call me if you have another excuse I didn’t cover… so I can stay ahead of my competitors and answer your concerns! Kathryn Creative Director 386-788-1596 Enjoy my video:

Schedule a Stress Free Business Shoot

On Location: Schedule a Stress Free Business Shoot

Scheduling any outside vendor to come into your place of business can be stressful, especially during open hours of operation. So there’s no surprise that arranging a film or video crew to shoot seems to freak some business owners out! It’s all about planning- actually planning right.

When a customer wants more than one video produced, eventually now or later, we find that some overshooting is always preferred. We can squeeze multiple pieces of content from one interview or day of shooting, which can be edited into multiple finished segments. This is a significant savings to our clients and creates much more of a value as well as content for your corporate video blog or channel. So, it’s all scheduled in one day- sometimes even in less than 2 hours from start to finish. But we have to plan the content too!

We always like to ensure that the quality of location sound is clear, the image is good but also that the video has a clear goal. Before we start interviewing, we like to limit each video to one main point, and no more than 3 points shot during the time on location. There has to be a planned agenda or what we call a “script”. We’ve seen so many novice production crews go out on location without a script and take much longer than necessary to gather the needed content. Event production is different, as we are mostly referring to business marketing, small company profiles or commercials. So plan what needs captured and agree to it before the shoot day is even scheduled.

And this all leads to whether your business is inconvenienced or not during the filmmaking process. Business interruption can cost you lots of money, but we have a few tricks we do to speed up the shooting day. One example is involving your customers so they leave feeling like they contributed to the “Hollywood movie” we just made for your brand! Plus they will pass final spot on to their friends. Well, we like to think you too are loving this process of making yourself a star! Anyway, we can’t name all our trade secrets here, because it’s not rocket science and we are still a competing video production company in Daytona Beach. But believe me when I say we treat our clients like family-of course family that actually likes each other!

We probably will ask you to shuffle some paperwork around so your desk looks good on camera. And yeah, we may rearrange your living room, office or showroom – but in the end you won’t even realize we were there. That’s leaving the place better than before we came!

Before you stress out further, as you know you need a video but are anxious about inviting the video crew over to shoot, remember a true professional crew with over 20 years of trusted experience can make your video production process a positive stress-free involvement. We want you to recommend us to your friends and rest of the family -and I'm not talking the freaky ones!

Til, next blog…

Keep the lens cap off.

Kathryn
Creative Director
