5 Excuses Businesses Don't Have a Video!

I think we all can agree that video marketing is the trend that is remaining on top of its game! Just ask the hundreds of thousands of newspaper columnists, online reviewers, book authors, marketing economists and even your kids who spend at least 5 hours a day reading, writing and talking about the power of video. So what is YOUR business waiting for? What is YOUR excuse?

It seems I hear the same points trying to be made each week when I am out seeking new business. Everyone seems to “want” a video, but when it comes down to signing the proposal, there is really a surprising answer. They want it, know they need it, but…they hesitate. My guess is it’s out of fear, so this week I will address this issue. As arguments can always be made about a number of things, I thought I’d touch on the basic 5 excuses presented to me, sometimes daily.

Not enough money.

I can say without a doubt that COST is the major inhibiting factor from the small businesses I pitch. It all comes down to ROI or return of investment. I like to educate clients of the benefits and ROI by justifying the level of work that goes into them getting new clients or at least appealing to new ones. How many lunches, drinks, postcards, gifts and time does it take you to reach AND get attention of at least 1 new customer? Once you find out the real cost of a video production and measure it to the cost of getting a new customer, or running one small business ad in the paper, you will see it’s less cost coming out of your pocket.

Specific videos have certain price tags. It’s like when you go get your car washed, and there is silver, gold, platinum packages to choose from, sometimes you just want the quick fast down and dirty (well you know what I mean) and sometimes you want your car to look it’s best. Same here with video- a bad car wash is like cheaply made video that will end up losing your customer or getting bad attention. Spend the money to get it done right the first time. A lot of work goes into making your company shine and look awesome. Pay accordingly.

And lastly, on the money saving tips- you may wonder why you should pay a producer to create the video when your kid or secretary could do it for a fraction of the cost. Just because you have a video camera and editing system that you paid $99 doesn’t make you a video producer. Just cause’ I have internet medical website, doesn’t make me a doctor. Your customers will pass you by if you aren’t wowing them so leave it to the professionals. If your clientele have to read endless crap on your website you just cost yourself a customer. What is that worth? Video is worth every penny spent. And sometimes it's pennies to produce.

Not much time.

Video can save your company thousands in money and time. Think about time spent training, traveling, recruiting, marketing, etc. If you incorporated a "new employee orientation" into a video campaign, you won’t have to train each individual employee- rather plop them down in the conference or break room with a coffee and DVD player and they get trained while you spend time finding new customers!

As for the creative process, a full service video production company is just that- full service! If you hire a seasoned professional producer, you don’t really have to do anything. Just depends on where you want to cut costs or have the producer take care of every detail, or that new employee you just hired who watched your ABOUT COMPANY video and now understands your concepts! Whoever is the point person is as simple as someone to help guide the process or just someone who can email us your camera ready logo, we will write script too!

Not having trust.

Trust is important. Trust takes time. To trust just any video production company isn’t ideal – we know! We’ve seen companies come and go over our 20 years, and believe that the slow impact model works. We like to educate our clients and demonstrate the benefits of a videos' value. A great video not only showcases how special your company is but understand that producing content that highlights the “heart and soul of who you are” is most important. Plus we believe in what we do and want to help you succeed. So we work with your webmaster, marketing team and create an endless loop of synergy. We share our knowledge of SEO, help you get your video onto a mobile-friendly site, and deliver quantifiable advertising possibilities. Trust is gained.

No wanting change.

The old sayin’ that people don’t like change, not even a bank teller, rings true. But to stay competitive in today’s economy, we all HAVE to change. Video is just part of the marketing equation these days, but creating engaging valuable content and showing the worth of your product and services will build trust with customers helping you connect with possible clients much faster in the future!

Remember, do if yourself might be cheap, but the skills required to use the new tools are not the same. Tools don't make the toolmaster, trust and experience does!

Not wanting to be on camera.

People say they want their 15 seconds of fame, but when it comes down to it folks are fearful they will look stupid on camera! I tell all my client’s that we are not shooting live television, so if you mess up, we do it over until you polish it. And frankly, it’s my job to make you look good, so relax and let's have some fun with it. If I don’t believe you, no one else will, so I will do what it takes to help you standout amongst your competitor- in a positive light!

In todays’ fast pace, quick decision making world wide web, you NEED to be on camera. Heck- even I did! (Check out my video below.) Before we shoot, I give you tips to help you relax, breathe and ask you to allow me to direct you so you can focus on your sales pitch. But really it all comes down to message and content. You don’t have to go on camera, and maybe shouldn’t. If we decide during the creative process that you won’t be introducing yourself to potential customers on camera, then we will have Plan B. Let us be the professional creative directors, sometimes a voiceover really is the answer. Or better yet, testimonials from your customers along with a spokesperson.

No matter what your excuses is or isn’t, you need to dominate your market- and can start doing that with a compelling, time and money saving entertaining video that builds trust with your customers.

Call me if you have another excuse I didn’t cover… so I can stay ahead of my competitors and answer your concerns! Kathryn Creative Director 386-788-1596 Enjoy my video:

Schedule a Stress Free Business Shoot

On Location: Schedule a Stress Free Business Shoot

Scheduling any outside vendor to come into your place of business can be stressful, especially during open hours of operation. So there’s no surprise that arranging a film or video crew to shoot seems to freak some business owners out! It’s all about planning- actually planning right.

When a customer wants more than one video produced, eventually now or later, we find that some overshooting is always preferred. We can squeeze multiple pieces of content from one interview or day of shooting, which can be edited into multiple finished segments. This is a significant savings to our clients and creates much more of a value as well as content for your corporate video blog or channel. So, it’s all scheduled in one day- sometimes even in less than 2 hours from start to finish. But we have to plan the content too!

We always like to ensure that the quality of location sound is clear, the image is good but also that the video has a clear goal. Before we start interviewing, we like to limit each video to one main point, and no more than 3 points shot during the time on location. There has to be a planned agenda or what we call a “script”. We’ve seen so many novice production crews go out on location without a script and take much longer than necessary to gather the needed content. Event production is different, as we are mostly referring to business marketing, small company profiles or commercials. So plan what needs captured and agree to it before the shoot day is even scheduled.

And this all leads to whether your business is inconvenienced or not during the filmmaking process. Business interruption can cost you lots of money, but we have a few tricks we do to speed up the shooting day. One example is involving your customers so they leave feeling like they contributed to the “Hollywood movie” we just made for your brand! Plus they will pass final spot on to their friends. Well, we like to think you too are loving this process of making yourself a star! Anyway, we can’t name all our trade secrets here, because it’s not rocket science and we are still a competing video production company in Daytona Beach. But believe me when I say we treat our clients like family-of course family that actually likes each other!

We probably will ask you to shuffle some paperwork around so your desk looks good on camera. And yeah, we may rearrange your living room, office or showroom – but in the end you won’t even realize we were there. That’s leaving the place better than before we came!

Before you stress out further, as you know you need a video but are anxious about inviting the video crew over to shoot, remember a true professional crew with over 20 years of trusted experience can make your video production process a positive stress-free involvement. We want you to recommend us to your friends and rest of the family -and I'm not talking the freaky ones!

Til, next blog…

Keep the lens cap off.

Kathryn
Creative Director

Is your Business Hitting Today's Video Culture?

I’ve heard it many times recently amongst my colleagues that we “live in a video culture”. Today’s customer seeks information not only without all the fluff but almost without effort. With the internet at their fingertips at every portal they do the research they need to feel comfortable enough to make that purchase. So if you don’t have video on your front page telling them about you, then you may have just missed that one big hit (or sell)!

Video can deliver an engaging and entertaining message, plus it can be way more three dimensional even more believable than just saying things in print. Plus it may just get passed on to a friend. Don’t forget about the old saying that happy customers tell 3 people. Think about the power a video link has! Each video shared has a perceived high value... but it has to have the right contents.

Relationship Building
Think about this. You’re setup at a trade show and your booth has all those freebie pens, candies and brochures. Now imagine it with a tv monitor playing a demonstrative video explaining your product or service. That’s engaging! That will most likely make a passerby, pause and look. Then your sales staff will have to conduct a less pushy approach 'cause the customer is already standing right in front of you- probably relaxed! You can have them fill out for free drawing or hand them a card and free coozie! That's begun a relationship with you.

Solve a Problem
Next, your video has to draw attraction to your company. Sure it can be cool to watch, but was there enough information to know that your business is their answer? Adding a call to action helps but overall investing in online video (or any video) needs to educate prospects in less than a minute, show that you are the answer to the viewers needs. Then you need to follow up and finalize the sale, or at least get a meeting with the audience! But they may not trust you still if you havn't showed them you can solve their problem.

Deliver the Right Message

And that leads to the most important thing. Don’t just have video for the sake of video on your website or at your trade show booth, unless it says something of value to the customer. The right message needs to demonstrate, prove, educate – just make sure you are telling a story. Remember the video is like a resume, a teaser but has to be worthy of the time the person spent watching it, whether you make them laugh, cry, or at least get off the couch.

With those 3 hard hitting points, the next step any corporation should do with their marketing plan should be to get a video produced! If you don’t have powerful video being used as a main communication tool then you are missing the video culture completely. You're not hitting, your missing!

Remember, keep it simple. Explain what your company does, who you are and how the web surfer with the attention deficit sitting on your page for at least 7-10 seconds needs to build a relationship with you! Call us, we are professionals that can help you. Or watch OUR VIDEO HIT

Let's Talk Money - Branding Budgets for Web Video

In today’s competitive market, almost every business needs a video to promote sales and influence company branding! The great news it’s much easier today to create them, especially for small businesses that don’t have the financial resources that larger companies do. But when the video is complete, what next?

Every business owner can start building awareness rapidly by using web video, even uploading their own videos. By now, most people know that video hosting sites like Youtube allow the end user to make their own channels, sort of like a television channel. And millions of potential customers are surfing for entertainment & information daily (hourly) awaiting topics of interest for their own viewing pleasure!

Small businesses don’t have to just buy expensive cable or broadcast airtime to get the word out to their target market, but how do you get your video noticed? As with everything money talks and trendy web video concepts I'm about to share not only allow you to get your video online for free, but with a few dollars you can get your video promoted and even sponsored!

Again, video portals like youtube can be beneficial, mostly because it's owned by powerhouse Google, and with their ancillary products and services, you can buy or bid to have your videos get higher ranking with video campaigns and ad words for video. Launching your video programming is much like the old TV Ad Agency Advertising, where you first gotta know your target demographics and how much you are willing to spend.

After you create your channel, upload your content, next embed (insert) your video in your website, e-newsletters and start increasing your “click-through rates” that helps let people you are innovative and want to communicate in a simple manner, helping your clients save time by not having to read everything.

Viewing videos used to be annoying because you had to download this or that player, but youtube’s new iframe encoding allows almost anyone on any computer, smart phone or internet tv to view your content without hassle in playback! Another plus.

So web videos will promote your company, interact with viewers and improve content on your site. And you don’t have to pay to store them on a server, since youtube is hosting them for free. But if you want to spend a little talking cash, sign up for google services and brand your business, build a unique audience base.

Just look at the latest branded entertainment tv show we produced, www.fishdaytona.com . It's all thanks for google. Youtube has increased our fan base by offering options like tags, adwords, sponsorship and subscriberships. All we had to do was produce the professional videos and post them on their site!

Can you tell we are a little giddy over 'em? We are talking money not leaving our branding pocket!

km

What's the BIG deal with a Corporate Video?

When it comes to your corporate image, a video is the most exciting way to brand your business and promote your products.

These days most web surfers would rather watch a video than read your brochure when looking at your website. That’s not to say you still shouldn’t have everything written for reiteration online but don’t you think seamlessly coordinated images and sounds will motivate a customer to buy much better? It’s easier and understood faster who you are, what you are selling and why they should buy from you in a video than though just reading.

Plus no one can sell your business better than you, and capturing your message via video can insure the spirit of your business and help you relate with your customers, giving a personal touch. Then if you sell products, a demonstration video will help increase sales since it simply shows the potential buyer what the product is all about!

We suggest you produce a short, simple video and although the cost will vary among lengths and details- most are very inexpensive. Of course you can shoot and edit a video yourself, but you only get a chance to make a first impression one time. And bad video, terrible audio and ugly graphics will put a negative impact on your image. So don’t waste your time. Hire a professional video company.

And the best benefit is that you won’t have to repeat yourself over and over when someone inquires about theproduct or services, because it’s already produced in a video. Another great way to educate resellers and new employees will be by having them watch the video upon their orientation and initial training within your company!

So, in a nutshell, a Corporate Video will be multi functional and save you time and energy by bringing awareness to those interested in doing business with your business. If you say it right the first time, it will repeat the same positive message. So you can focus on customer service! And that’s the big deal folks.

3 Basic Things Your Crew Better Own!

Hiring local professionals can be challenging at times. When it comes to a video crew, everyone who owns a camera these days thinks they are a pro moviemaker. Well they may make a cool video for youtube, but it's probably not going to represent YOUR business in a positive way.

Not only should the videographer you hire have a good camera, but they should be using a tripod and professional grade audio recording device or microphone.

Camera

Don't worry folks, I ain't gonna get all technical on you, as you are probably already saying, "like WHO CARES", but the final quality of your video is directly related to the quality of the camera (such as offering the best color and resolution). You wouldn't expect the professional still photographer to use an instamatic during a wedding or family portrait! Don't allow anyone to tell you it doesn't matter. They don't necessarily need the latest and greatest, because if your crew is constantly buying new equipment, YOU will be the one paying for it in high production rates. But a professional digital video camera should be bigger than the palm of their hand!

Tripod

You also want to make sure the shots are steady, a practiced videographer will use a Tripod mounted camera and an experienced one will know how to go handheld when it's necessary for more exciting angles and versatility. You don’t want shaky cam. Unless you are a hip hop music video or roller coaster ride

Microphone

And last but not lease, make sure your crew has a PRO microphone. Trust me when I say I’ve seen some of the worse video produced at professional rates than you’d imagine. Audio is 50% of the finished product. Poor audio can ruin a video production. I recently edited a project that a client wanted to include testimonial videos that were shot with a consumer camera, no mic. It downgraded the professionalism of the final video although I was able to add filters and lots of fixing in post production (which again cost the client extra) but all it would have took was a microphone recorded at correct levels to make that spot a national image piece.

Now, if you are hiring a college student - thanks for supporting the up and coming next generation video crew. But I hope you expect what you will be getting to be less than what a seasoned veteran professional video crew can give you. And what it will do for your business image.

3 little things is all it takes to make or break your corporate image!
Call anytime for free consultation! 386-788-1596

SD vs. HD -What should you shoot on?

After you've decided to shoot a video, the next question should be, what format do I need it in?

SD refers to Standard Definition video platform versus HD (High Definition) video. In a nutshell, HD has higher resolution which records more detail but may get lost depending on how it's viewed. But we're not gonna discuss pixel counts and lines per inch, but do want to give you just enough information to help you make the right decision. Bottom line: A good producer should offer you the choice. And a great production company will talk you out of spending extra money on all unnecessary fees.

You need to know where your video will air. Will your project be aired on television? If so, cable or broadcast? Will your video be played on a standard definition channel or will it be on high definition channel? Is your project going straight to an optical disk? If so, DVD or Blu-Ray? What size tv will is be played on? How large will the file be? Will your project need to be available for cross platforms: TV, web and direct disk mail?

As technology is constantly changing, you may get confused thinking you must have your project shot on Hi-Def (HD) or whatever is hot and new this week. HD is really only good for real broadcast HD or direct-to-BluRay projects, as cable TV is still transmitting in standard definition. Yes, those local tv spots are aired in SD and your HD video will be downgraded to SD standards.

If your video goes straight to disk, then beware that although Blu-Ray can hold larger image files than DVD, DVD video looks best on monitor screens that are smaller than 36 inches. So what size monitor will your project be played on? Remember the Beta vs. BetaMax wars? How many people have Blu-Ray machines?

Not all web delivery can handle the bandwidth needed for HD due to heavy compression, image detail produced by these formats are far below that of broadcast HD, and often even inferior to DVD-Video when upscaled to the same size! So why not shoot SD?

If you plan on archiving footage for future editing then you may or may not air on blu-ray or high def channel, then choose HD. Yes image quality is great in HD but costs are higher due to the production company needing faster and larger computers to handle the editing of these videos.

In the end it's up to the client to decide, but don't be fooled that you MUST have the latest craze that may very well dig deep into your wallet. Remember, SD vs. HD really depends on where the project will end up. Standard definition has been around for decades, tried and true, HD and the future of Blu-Ray is still a question, because who knows what's coming out next!

Spend your budget on the creative process of telling the story - that is highest quality video you can have!

Paying Attention To a Pro Video Blog

Do you video blog? Do you know what a blog is? According to wiki, it’s a “web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis.” Savvy web surfers have been reading and writing on blogs since the concept took off, some since internet started, but now it has a name, and frankly I think it’s like having your own newspaper column. But who is paying attention?

Let’s talk webcam video blog, an easy affordable way to create and host your own video sending messages directly to your consumer. A talking head (a person on camera) via skype or other web cam systems is mainly the norm. Video sharing sites will host it free, like youtube etc, and you can embed the video link to play on almost any computer. But again, who is paying attention?

Now let's talk pro video blog versus the webcam. When delivering your message you are trying to be straight forward in your sharing, having your voice get out to the widest audience possible, right? Doesn't content and quality of it seem important. Social networking is now dominated by video commenters ranting and raving. And it’s very easy for a business to believe that presenting their video blog message from their web cam is a good decision. But how professional is that? It may meet your strict budget, but bad video quality or overall business communication is actually hurt by this apparent unpolished look that a web cam gives you.

Can your customer trust you to be professional when you are delivering your own unprofessional image? For those who are paying attention to you, you want to be slick, smooth, hip and stand out above the rest!

Business, Non Profit and Political video blogs can showcase CEO's, Executive Directors and Candidates with added graphics in a simple yet professional seting. And it's way more affordable than you can image. Also imagine sitting in a local studio, on camera over a green screen or at a desk and imitating the news bureaus linking in others from various locations throughout the world. As a business owner you can produce, direct and host your own news directly from our internet tv studio. See example: INTERNET TV VIDEO BLOG

As you can see from the video examples of our local crew talking on camera, by taking a generic talking head on a studio camera, adding in colorful backgrounds (that's not really our studio!), then adding other graphics and commentators, you can actually raise the bar above your competitors and make video blogging really work for your business.

Now what about price? The value of booking studio time and cutting more than 1 v-mail or v-blog in one hour is possible. Call us so we can show you how. Locally owned and operated affordable internet tv studio can and will make your video blogging professional. And belelive me SOMEONE is paying attention to your pro videoblog.

KM OTT Producer

Fishing Shows, Blood Diagnostic Machines & Realtors Make 2010 a Success!

New Vision Videos made it through the tight economic times of 2010 and even produced 11 fun-filled fishing shows during Season 2 of our own Fish Daytona Internet TV Series with thanks to local sponsors such as Laboscos Pawn & Jewelry Castle and Atlantic Marine.

New Vision also shot several web profile videos which air on business websites for clients such as Hoffman Financial Planning and Mike Reed Real Estate. Virtual video tours were introduced mid-year offering local Realtors such as Judy Visnic of Exit Realty to take advantage of the great local rates!

Television commercials were produced for local companies such as the DNA Center, enlightening viewers about new treatments for Alzheimer’s disease; Topline Fasteners showcasing their USA made custom shiny bolts; and a 4-part commercial package for Reassurance Care Calls with the talent of actress, Grace Chapman. All commercials aired on various cable channels during the 2nd and 3rd quarters, which proved to be a sluggish market for 2010 due to the economy, changes in channel audience bases and increase of web advertising.

On the freelance front, product shots for Copan Diagnostics were shot during an Ocean Center trade show imaging new technology of the walk-away Specimen Processor “WASP” machine which deals with microbiology samples. Hired as official City of Daytona Beach Shores videographer, we were on location interviewing folks at the 50th Founders Day Celebrations. Pig SkinDreams author, Dr. Steve Below came to the Daytona area to present his book and speak to football teens and we were on location to record the motivational seminars.

The year ended with re-edits of New Vision’s long time client, Florida Lions Conklin Center for the Blind video campaign. Each video series was shortened to accommodate the change of fast paced internet viewing audience behaviours. As Non Profit Association projects are our favorite to work on, New Vision was excited to became the new producer of Dale Woodward Funeral Homes web video series, Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things.

Stay tuned for more existing news in our future press releases!
