3 Key Points to Identify, Motivate & Connect to your Donor with Video

Posted on February 4, 2010 at 3:36 PM

We could probably all agree that the economy is still not the best it could be at this present time, right?

I'm sure there are those companies and organizations that are having tremendous wealth acquisitions and redistributions but for most of us smaller local businesses, that's not a current fact.  We all could reap some adundance of money, since government funding is hard to find and there is so much competition amongst private foundation support.

I like to think of myself as a person who is more focused on finding a solution to the problem, rather than focusing on the problem itself.   Here are my suggestions of 3 innovative key points to recognize prospective sources of money, to motivate donors and connect so you can continue the mission of your non profit organization.

1) Identification

A big challenge is to identify those who can and will donate. So think locally instead of always looking to major donors, look for individual gifts from folks who support your cause already. Furthermore, think who in the community is thriving during these current econimic times? Who has come into money recently? Also, send your direct mail video to the right demographics by running a zip code analysis of your mailing list! Indentify the right target audience. Email links in your monthly newsletter to those folks to watch your new marketing video.

2) Uniqueness

What motivates someone to donate is individual to the donor. So why not offer your donors to contribute in a way that is meaningful for them! Find out their values, whether they are charitable for a cause like yours'. Would they love to sponsor the videotaping of your upcoming event? Maybe they would love to see their name in the credits or in a spnsoring message script, "brought to you by Mrs. Smith of...". Just as everyone is involved with Philanthropy in a different way, so give each donor a unique way of acknowledgment of their donation, time and efforts to help you.

3.) Connectivity

Times are changing so fast as we progress in our electronical age, and the newest trend seems that we all want to be connected through places like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. Why not create a linkage between your organization and potential donors?  People now want to be social!  We now want friends and buddies where we used to be a seemingly loner society, we are now wanting to get to know who is behind the scenes. A website testimonial video is a great way to introduce your Board of Directors or even let those affected by your cause be heard and seen!  Plus next time you have a fundraising event, why not videotape it then put it on Youtube and link it to your website! It will not only draw those who attended your event back to your site time and again, but their friends may go there to view the video of their friends. It's a great way to solicit donors. Getting visitors to come back to your website offering renewals or accepting stewardship can be fun by inviting them to whats happening through highlighting news with a video message. It's endless!

If you are still not convinced of the many creative ways to find solutions for your organizations needs or "situations" then call us. Ask us how many NPO's we've assisted in raising awareness, funds used video as a great way to present board members, the hardwork of its staff, oustanding volunteers, recognizing donors, showcasing awards, highlighting activities. We will show that your organization is a distinguished leader in the community. Be imaginative: video is affordable and in these times -necessary in order to Identify, Motivate and Connect!
